Vernon, The Kennedy Center and Arlington Cemetery, just to name a few stops. The students will also have the opportunity to meet face to face with members of Tennessee’s congressional delegation on the steps of the United States Capital. To enter, students are required to write a short story, 900 words or less, titled “Electric Cooperatives: Powering Your Community.” Complete details can be found HERE, in the WYT booklet, and are also available at all CEMC offices. The 2013 WYT trip will be June 14-20. The entry deadline is February 25th and winners will be notified in April. Give your entry short stories to Mr. Franklin by February 25, 2013.

Tipton Memorial Scholarship, which will provide a one-time, $2,500 gift to support the continuing education of a qualifying Tennessee Scholastic Clay Target Program athlete. The gift may be applied to tuition, textbooks, university housing, or other approved expenses related to college, trade, or vocational education. Monies will be paid directly from TWF to the educational institution of choice.
The scholarship was created in memory of TWF friend Robert Eugene Tipton, Jr., of Memphis, who died March 26, 2012. Robert attended Presbyterian Day School and Memphis University School (MUS) - both in Memphis - and graduated from the Carlbrook School in Halifax, Va. He was attending High Point University in High Point, NC at the time of his untimely passing.
Robert, who was planning to intern with TWF's Tennessee Scholastic Clay Target Program in the summer of 2012, loved the outdoors, and especially enjoyed duck hunting and skeet shooting at his family's Five Oaks Lodge in Humphrey, Ark.

Governor’s Square Mall is currently looking for high school students to participate in their Fashion Advisory Board (FAB). This is a year-long program that is focused on introducing students to fashion, retail, marketing, advertising and public relations. Members act as mall ambassadors and assist with events, fashion shows, and in-store tenant promotions. They also offer students the opportunity to participate in photo shoots and educational workshops. Members accrue points based on their participation in the program and compete for a $500 scholarship, mall gift cards and prizes.
They are looking for 20 students with a minimum 3.0 GPA and an interest in fashion, retail, marketing, event planning or public relations. The FAB holds monthly meetings on the third Thursday of every month.
The FAB will hold informal interviews and program sign ups on Saturday, May 11 from noon to 4 p.m. in the Food Court. Students will need to bring a copy of their most recent report card and a signed application to sign up. The 2013-2014 program will officially kick off with the Back to School Fashion Show on Saturday, August 3 and the first official meeting will be Thursday, August 15 at 4 p.m. in the Mall Management Offices.
